What makes the 2025 Support Package special?

• More WU students are eligible – all students enrolled in a regular program at WU Vienna, including first-semester students of WS 24/25, can apply.

• The criteria are designed to ensure that students who are truly in need of support receive adequate help.

• NEW: Health Allowance – Your health is the foundation for successfully completing your studies without additional strain. We support you with verifiable health-related expenses!

The ÖH WU Support Package 2025 consists of:

• A base amount granted to all eligible applicants

• A bonus for students with children

• A bonus for outstanding academic performance

• A health support grant

How do you receive support?

You must submit your application between April 1st and April 30th, 2025 (11:59 p.m.).

You have three options to apply:

Option 1: Fill out the form online (German only) 
Option 2: Download, complete, and send the form to: soziales@oeh-wu.at
Option 3: Download, fill out, and hand in the form at the ÖH WU Counseling Center

What are the requirements for the base amount?

1. You must have achieved a minimum number of ECTS credits:

• Non-working applicants: at least 16 ECTS on average per semester

• Working applicants (earning more than EUR 551.10 monthly): at least 8 ECTS per semester

2. The following will also be considered:
   Your income + income of parents or partner, family size, living situation, cost of living, monthly expenses, and extraordinary burdens.

What about first-semester students?

First-semester students are not excluded from applying. You only need to provide proof of completed STEOP (16 ECTS).

How do I receive the academic achievement bonus?

Despite financial difficulties, many students achieve outstanding academic performance. ÖH WU recognizes this with a bonus. If you have completed an average of 24 ECTS per semester during the evaluation period (excluding the semester with the lowest performance), you will receive the achievement bonus.

How do I receive the bonus for children?

Having children comes with significant financial challenges. The lack of affordable childcare, tax relief, and social support makes it harder for student parents. ÖH WU acknowledges this by providing a bonus to students with at least one child. You must provide a birth certificate as proof.

How do I receive the health allowance grant?

You can apply for a health allowance if your studies were demonstrably affected by a health condition.

Eligible expenses include:

• Costs for psychotherapy or psychiatric treatment

• Medical treatment for chronic or acute illnesses

• Physical therapy (in case of long-term health impairment)

• Aids necessary for your studies (e.g. glasses, orthopedic aids)

• Long-term or study-impacting medication

Not eligible:

• Preventive check-ups without an acute reason

• General fitness or wellness offers (e.g. massages, gym)

• Cosmetic treatments

• Alternative healing methods without a doctor’s recommendation

Required:

• Proof of cost (e.g. invoice)

• A short explanation of how your health condition impacted your studies (e.g. study break, reduced performance, recommendation by a specialist)

The final decision on eligibility will be made by ÖH WU, considering your individual situation.

What else should you know?

• To ensure an objective allocation of funds, ÖH WU employees are excluded from receiving the support package.
